Camera movement and editing
1)
a. Crane- 1:15 - The use of this camera movement creates a fast motion effect and gives an overview of the setting. This allows the audience to have an insight on where the action is taking place and the director may have chosen to use this to illustrate a dramatic action scene and track the movements of the officers. This also displays urgency due to the rapid motions and chase for the man trying to escape.
b. Tilt- 1:59 - The tilt movement in this scene moves from the officers face to the weapon in her hand. The use of this camera movement foreshadows the violent action scene that will commence. The director may have used this to show the danger the man holds and all of the officers surrounding him with weapons in their hands shows how desperate they are to capture him.
c. Handheld- 2:10 - The shaky camera movement creates realism and sets an urgent tone for the audience. It connotes action of some sort and allows viewers to perceive the actions from a realistic perspective. In this specific scenario, the handheld movement appears when there has been a great deal of action and displays the rush and physical movements taken place from an actual person's perspective.
2)
a. Cut- 0:03 - The immediate cut in the opening scene of the clip informs the audience of the importance and foreshadowing the first 2 seconds will create later on.
b. Pace of editing - 1:50 - The medium paced cuts suggests a build in tension, and fast/rapid moving scenes of action are to come (foreshadowing). It tells the audience that pressure is being created my these quite quick of a pace cuts.
3)
a. Over the shoulder - 0:26 - The use of placing an over the shoulder camera angle in this scene allows the audience to see the characters perspective and shows the viewers that he is aware he is being watched by an enemy which which leads to him escaping captivity.
b. Unusual perspective - 2:51 - Using this unusual camera angle, gives the audience an overview of the danger the character is. It shows how high up he is from the ground and creates tension for those watching.

Camera shots and angles
1. Camera Shots
This is an over the shoulder camera shot. This specific type of shot allows us to view the subject (the computers) from behind the person. It also allows us to the perspective from the characters point of view.
This specific shot is called a two shot. This means two people are the subjects of the scene and are usually captured in medium close up. This allows the audience to focus on the specific conversation between the two people and makes them the subject.
This camera shot is known as a close up. This gives us a close aspect of the character (typically their face). This gives the audience a more transparent view of the characters emotion.
2. Camera angle:
3. Mise-en-scene:
The setting and props in this scene symbolise the genre and base of the whole series: sci-fi. It connotes futuristic technology meaning this show is set in a much later time period. The props illustrate a science fiction and controlling setting as the machine is advanced technology and displays a paranormal era.

Mise-en-scene
Stranger things paragraph:
At the beginning of the clip, the first character that makes an appearance on the screen is wearing a white laboratory coat. This suggests in a sly manner that the genre of this series could be sci-fi. The lab coat connotes research of some type and science. The initial setting connotes a sense of danger and mystery. Its a dark and unknown place which creates tension and eagerness for the viewers watching. The flickering of the lights adds to the settings supernatural vibe. It illustrates an idea of there being something beyond human control to contain this demon. The expressions and actions don't suggest something of normal human nature but a being beyond normal characteristics.
