The language on this poster consists of a title and tagline which tells the audience that this poster is advertised as a movie and not a series. The title also shows the number 2 which means this movie is a sequel, which connotes the fact that the first film was enjoyed and liked by viewers. The animations and setting in this poster incorporate many bright colours and eye catching settings. Moreover, the protagonist being the main character in frame and the centre of the poster can indicate his importance and significance during the film.
Illumination Entertainment, a well known and successful production company, produced this globally liked and recognised film viewed by millions. The writes and producers who contributed to creating this film- Sergio Pablos, Cinco Paul, and Ken Daurio, have also made other famous children films such as : "Smallfoot" and "Klaus".
Due to the posters choice of vibrant colours, animated images, and previous film, this film has a target audience of predominantly young children from an age range of 5-11. Because of the target audience, most children are likely to watch television with their parents due to their age, meaning certain scenes in the film would have to engage parents and appeal to an older audience as well as children.
The poster portrays a villainous and adventurous representation of the main character. The colour scheme of the poster illustrates the films plot is to be set in a galaxy. Though Gru's agenda is portray himself as someone evil, and a villainous mastermind throughout the movie sequels, his character actually actually juxtaposes his evil side and is actually a humorous and likeable character.
