Key concept Analysis



Language: The title and tag line are all indicators that this is a film poster. In addition, the title includes the number 2 meaning that this movie is a sequel and the first film was liked by viewers, hence the fact that a second one was made. The protagonist is standing on a podium surrounded by a vast group of his followers aka "minions". The ombre of colours in the sky indicate that this is an animate children's film.

Industry: The film was produced by Illumination Entertainment and created by Sergio Pablos, Cinco Paul, Ken Daurio. Sergio Pablos has also created other well known films such as : "Smallfoot" and "Klaus". All these films are animated and are children's films.

Audience: This film seems to have a target audience of predominantly children with an estimated age range of 5-10. The comedy and graphics of the film gain the attraction of children as the script falls into line of what a child would consider entertaining or funny. The graphics and colours appeal the eyes of infants. As well as the target audience being aimed a predominantly children, there are moments in the film that would be in interest of adults as many watch/monitor their children's screen intake so having moments that engage the parents that attracts more viewers.

Representation: The protagonist plays the role of a villain and he portrays the characteristics as someone funny and cunning. In the entirety of all the films, "Gru" , the protagonist, plays a façade as his ambition is to be seen as someone with a villainous nature and cunning ideas, however, in reality, his true nature is someone who is funny and likable. The poster displays his power and position as he stood towering his associates below him. The image of the vibrant also links to the plot of the film as the main characters agenda is to steal the moon and the image of the galaxy before him shows that.
